Watch: Ajinkya Rahane shows the spirit of cricket while batting in the 4th Test: Cricket was framed to be a gentleman’s game. The modern day version of the game rarely gets to see the camaraderie between the opposition players as the aggression and on-field intensity has raised manifold in the recent times.
But there are often instances when a few players show us that cricket is indeed a gentleman’s game and there is no love lost with the opposition. In the fourth Test against South Africa at the Feroze Shah Kotla, Delhi, Indian middle order batsman Ajinkya Rahane showed the true spirit of cricket.
During the first innings, Ajinkya Rahane swept a ball hard off Dane Piedt. The short leg fielder, Tenda Bavuma, in reflex turned around, but was hit on his hand and was clearly seen in deep pain as he shrugged his hands instantly. Rahane did not waste any time and was very quick to move in the direction of Bavuma and checked whether the South African opener was fine. He shook hands with Bavuma and ensured that he was all right.
