The Australian ODI team is in South Africa playing the Proteas at their home and has been disgusted thus far in the series having lost all the three matches. They decided to travel the Rainbow nation without all-rounder Glenn Maxwell who played an unbelievable knock of 145 off 65 balls in a recent T20I against Sri Lanka.

Maxwell is now playing with the Victoria Bushrangers team in the Matador Cup in Perth and on Saturday he pulled off a crazy save at the boundary. D’Arcy Short batting against spin jumped down the wicket and hit the ball hard in the long-on region and expected it to sail all the way over. The Victorian skipper had his best fielder at the right place for that delivery.

The Big Show saw the ball coming his way though it looked like would fly over his head, didn’t just give up on it rather decided to go for it. He had to jump high in the air to even get close to the ball. He timed it to perfection and reached out with both his hands. But considering the force and angle with which he jumped Maxwell realized he would land beyond the ropes, while still in the air he threw the ball off inside the playing area.

He had a backup there in teammate Rob Quiney who was ready and glad to complete the catch. The on-field umpires weren’t sure if it was clean so went up to the TV umpire who after replayed gave a green signal that Maxwell was in the air when he was in contact with the ball and before he landed back had already got rid of it. The batsman was stunned as he expected to earn six runs with that shot but instead was making his way back to the pavilion.
