Rohit Sharma is again the man in the limelight. Despite India’s loss yesterdays, Indian fans still had a reason to be happy as they were treated by an awesome batting display by Rohit ‘The Hitman’ Sharma.

Rohit in a video interview after the match said that runs don’t matter if the team is losing.

”It was a great knock. It is always important to start the series on a positive note. Personally for me it was important that I get off my team to a good start and then carry on the momentum and that’s exactly what I did and it was good to create a big partnership with Kohli. Although, it was disappointing in the end not to be on the winning side because that’s what matters as how much you score doesn’t really matter. At the end of the day if you don’t win games then it is disappointing. But nevertheless, we have four games to go and I hope we will come back really strong,” Rohit said.

He also said that he likes to assess the situation early on before becoming aggressive.

“The two new white balls tends to do little bit so it’s important to see what is happening, especially at Perth. There is a bit of extra bounce so you have to be little careful and shot selection become very important. So I had certain game plan in my head. And I was trying to do that”

Rohit felt that the team needs to figure whether what went wrong in the first game. He also said that the team has to improve fielding as fielding plays a crucial part in any format these days.

Sharma once again showed his knack of converting centuries into big ‘daddy’ hundreds. And, when asked about the importance of going on to convert hundreds into big scores he said, “That’s the kind of thing I have been doing. We always discuss this in team meetings that one batsman has to carry on and bat long. Getting past hundred is a milestone but you have to understand the team situation as well. I always wanted to get big hundreds and I am glad that I am I can do it.”

Sharma proved his dominance in the limited overs format after he smashed an unbeaten 171 in the first ODI at the WACA, Perth. However, his knock went in vain as Steve Smith (149 off 135 balls) overshadowed him with his inspiring performance to guide Australia to a five-wicket victory.
