Watch: Tillakaratne Dilshan smash Mitchell Johnson for six 4s in an over: Srilanka were set 377 to win after Australia made 376 with help of Glen Maxwell (102), Steven Smith (72) and valuable contributions from Captain Michael Clarke (68) and Shane Watson (67). These four made sure that Australia set up a total that was out of reach from the Sri Lankan batting line up. The Lankan bowlers were hapless in the last 11 overs in which Australia scored almost 130 runs. Thisara Perera went for 87 runs in his 9 overs for 2 wickets and Sekkuge Prasanna went for 77 runs in his 10 overs for 1 wicket.
Glen Maxwell hit the second fastest century in World Cup history off just 51 balls and the fastest ever for Australia in One Day International history.
When it came for Sri Lankan’s chance to bat, they lost opener Lahiru Thirimanne for just 1 run. But Dilshan and Sangakkara upped the tempo with brilliant counter attack. It all started with Dilshan hitting Mitchell Johnson for 6 fours in his 3rd over. He got hit for fours on all the 6 legal deliveries he bowled. Dilshan hit him to all parts of the ground on the off and on side. If Johnson bowled short, he was pulled and hooked to the leg side and cut square of the wicket on the off. If he bowled full, Dilshan drove him through the covers and the mid-off area with tremendous bat speed. Dilshan became the first man to hit 6 fours in an over in World Cup history.
