When Disha Patani talked about playing the role of MS Dhoni’s ex-girlfriend in MS Dhoni- The Untold Story

Back in 2016, Disha Patani, the Bollywood actress, was taking baby steps in the field of Indian cinemas. At the age of 24, she was faced with the massive task of playing a role in the biopic made on MS Dhoni, the former Indian cricketer. In the movie, MS Dhoni- The Untold Story, the now 29-year-old enacted the role of the veteran’s ex-girlfriend, Priyanka.

The film, also featuring Anupam Kher, Rajesh Sharma, Kiara Advani, and the late Sushant Singh Rajput, turned out to be a Blockbuster. The movie was critically acclaimed and it was screened for quite a few weeks. Patani, being a newbie, didn’t show signs of nervousness. However, she was anxiously waiting for Dhoni to react on her acting in the movie.

“I don’t know when I am going to meet Dhoni, but I am looking forward to meeting him. I will ask him about the film and my role whether he liked it,” Disha was quoted as saying.

“The casting of the film is inspired by the real-life characters. So, you will see Sakshi in Kiara or Dhoni in Sushant. I hope Dhoni sees Priyanka in me. I have added my pinch to the character also. I feel you cannot go technical every time and should add a little bit of your own,” she stated.

Later, it was learned that Dhoni was a tad apprehensive about Priyanka’s part being shown in the film. As per reports, the cricketer, who turned 40 on Wednesday, July 7, didn’t want that part of his life to be put forth to the public.

The biopic threw light on Dhoni’s illustrious career from his birth to the 2011 World Cup that India won by beating Sri Lanka in the final. In the movie, Rajput was seen hitting the six off Nuwan Kulasekara over long-on to give India the title.

As far as Patani is concerned, she has come a long way ever since the movie hit the slivescreens. She last featured in the Salman Khan-starrer ‘Radhe’, released back on May 13. She has also shared screen space with the likes of Anil Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, and others.
