Preview:
A collective bowling effort followed by a big knock from Sophie Devine saw the Adelaide Strikers start the season with a big win. The Melbourne Renegades were made to bat first on a tricky pitch and lost their top four inside powerplay. Skipper Jessica Duffin scored 44 from only 32 balls with five fours. The knock helped the Renegades to post at least 117/7 in 20 overs.
The Strikers also lost two wickets early but Sophie Devine’s presence made them feel secure. Devine shared a 62-run partnership for the 4th wicket in only 8.2 overs which took the game completely away from the Renegades. The Adelaide franchise completed the chase in only 15.2 overs with six wickets in hand. Devine finished with an unbeaten 45-ball 75 which included ten boundaries.
Weather Condition/Report:
The weather forecast suggests no rain on Sunday with clear skies while there was cloud covering on Saturday.
Pitch Condition/Report:
The Karen Rolton Oval witnessed scores around 150 in the last season. However, the track on Saturday was a two-paced one and extended help to both spinners and pace bowlers. Devine’s experience made her produce a big knock in tricky conditions.

Danielle Wyatt was dismissed for just one run in the previous game but is expected to produce her usual exploits in the T20 format. The Renegades have continued the move of opening with Sophie Molineux who scored 354 runs last season alongside 16 wickets with the ball. She could come up with an all-round performance of 30+ runs and 1-2 wickets on Sunday. Maitlan Brown played a key role for the Renegades last year with the ball and took a couple of wickets along with Lea Tahuhu on Saturday.

Expert Advice:
Once again, a gamble between Sophie Devine, Stafanie Taylor, Danielle Wyatt, Sophie Molineux and Tahlia McGrath has to be taken for the fantasy XI in the all-rounders’ category. Wyatt and McGrath can be the ones who can be excluded as they don’t bowl as much as the other three.
Probable Winners:
Adelaide Strikers are expected to make it 2-0 in the opening weekend against Renegades.
