Preview:

Wellington Blaze, the defending champions of the Women’s Super Smash, started the 2019-20 season on high. They won all the three matches they played in the Central round during the opening week of the tournament and seal the top place in the points table. They will take on Otago Sparks on Saturday afternoon whom they defeated by a huge 66 runs on the first day of the tournament.

The Otago team have been quite unlucky as they won only one of the four matches played. They lost twice to the Auckland Hearts which includes a 7-run defeat. Their lone win came against Northern Spirit where they sealed a 9-run win while defending their total of 184/1.

Weather Condition/Report:

The weather from the afternoon at the Basin Reserve on Saturday is expected to be pleasant without any threat from rain.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The Basin Reserve hosted two matches during the last edition of the tournament. In the first match, the home team Wellington Blaze fell 20 runs short of a 151-run target set by Otago Volts while in the 2nd match, they chased down 150 by losing six wickets and two balls to spare. This gives a hint of how good a track could be in use for the Saturday’s match.

Only one of Rachel Priest, Amelia Kerr and Hayley Jensen can be fitted in a Suggested XI as all the three cost 9.5 credits. The premier all-rounders Devine and Bates occupy 22.5 credits already. We couldn’t fit Amelia is either of teams as the Basin Reserve is expected to be high-scoring track and she will be batting outside top four.
