In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined 20 per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.
Taylor pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing. On-field umpires Eloise Sheridan and Paul Wilson, third umpire Ahmed Shah Pakteen and fourth umpire Ruchira Palliyaguruge levelled the charge.
India thrashed West Indies by 155 runs
Speaking of how the game panned out, Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur made their bat talk in the contest and slammed remarkable centuries. Riding on their brilliance, the Women in Blue posted 317/8 in their allotted 50 overs. Chasing the daunting target in Hamilton, West Indies started brilliantly with openers Deandra Dottin and Hayley Matthews adding 100 runs inside 13 overs. However, a shocking batting collapse meant the Carribbean team got bundled out for 162 runs.
Needless to mention, Indian skipper Mithali Raj was delighted with the result and she expressed the same after the game. “Couldn’t have asked for a better effort from the girls. The way they stepped up in a crunch game like this. It had a lot to do with the nerves, Everybody knew about the importance of this game. We needed to step up. Windies came into this game with two wins and we came in after a loss. You need to be a little flexible,” said the 39-year-old in the post-match conversation.
“The way Smriti and Kaur played sensibly. It is good to have youngsters around. The young ones ease out the nerves by cracking a few jokes. What worked for us was our approach and attitude, The next game might be on a different ground and different conditions. But our approach can be consistent,” she added.
