World Cup 2019: ICC predicts a top team to reach the semi-final

The ICC Cricket World Cup is only 11 months away from getting underway as England are getting ready to host the mega event. This time around the tournament will comprise only of 10 teams and the matches will be played in the round-robin format. However, the governing body of the sport has predicted one of the semi-finalists exactly one year before the scheduled semi-final of World Cup.

The 12th edition will mark its beginning on May 30 and will go on until July 15 as the final of the tournament will be played at the Home of Cricket. The action will commence with the game between England and South Africa at the Oval in London. All the teams are gearing up for the event and are fine-tuning their squads in order to get themselves up and running.

Who are the semi-finalists?

The official Instagram handle of International Cricket Council (ICC) recently predicted that England can play the semi-final of the World Cup on July 11. The date coincides with England’s Football team playing their semi-final clash against Croatia on the same day this year in the FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Unfortunately, they lost the game to the in-form Croatia side despite taking the lead with an early goal. They conceded the hopes of winning the glittering trophy by allowing the opposition to score 2 goals in crunch times and were crashed out of the tournament.

ICC, in their recent update on Instagram, took a sly dig on England’s fortunes if they manage to play the semi-final on the same day when their Football team lost. In the process, they have spilt the beans on one of the four teams who will make it to the knockout stages. It will be interesting to see now if the Eoin Morgan-led side will be able to live up to the expectations as the last two editions of the event have been won by the home side.
