Yasir Shah hurts his back, set to miss out tour game against CA XI

The Pakistan team is in Australia to play a three-Test match series. At the moment they are training for the three-day warm-up match against Cricket Australia XI that starts on December 8. Ahead of the match, it’s bad news for Pakistan as leg-spinner Yasir Shah has hurt his back today while training at the Cazaly’s Stadium in Cairns.
Yasir will thus miss the warm-up game that will be played at the same ground. He has consulted doctors in Cairns and has been advised to rest for a few days to let it heal. Even if he isn’t able to make it in time for the tour game Pakistan team management would want their ace spinner to be fit in time for the first Test that starts on December 15 in Brisbane.
It is a bigger cause of worry for Pakistan also because they only have one back up spinner in the 16-man squad that has landed in Australia. Left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz who has played 3 Tests is the only other spin bowling option with the team management.
The leg-spinner is at No. 9 in the Test ranking for the bowlers at the moment having led the list at one point in his brief career. He has been the best spinner for the national team since his debut and has made sure they don’t miss the services of Saeed Ajmal who hasn’t been able to make a cut after remodeling his bowling action.
Yasir has played 20 Tests for Pakistan and has picked 116 wickets with an average of 27.89. He also holds the record for being the second fastest bowler to 100 Test wickets that he achieved in 17 Tests. His special bonding and relation with former Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne; it has seen the legend cross over and share crucial tips with him whenever he has had the opportunity. The tour of Australia will be a key test in his career and he would definitely want to do well here.
The next few days will be very important as the team would not want to take any chances with him while also being eager to have him fit for the game.
