The Indian Premier League is undoubtedly the biggest celebration of cricket as a sport. Each year, the league keeps becoming bigger and better. With the 2021 edition just around the corner, a new anthem for the IPL has been released. The new anthem was launched by Star Sports during the first ODI of India and England on Tuesday.

The cash-rich league has always been known for producing engaging anthems with some exciting themes around it. Even for the 2021 edition, the league’s reputation to have an engaging anthem has been kept upright. The video started with a teacher asking his students the mantra for success.

After this, the student tells his teacher all the mantras which he knows, but the teacher argues that these are quite old. As soon as this happens, the music video starts in which the song, “yeh apna mantra hai, India ka apna mantra” (it is our mantra, India’s own mantra). The theme of the video was around how India is changing and developing at a rapid rate.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma spotted in the IPL 2021 anthem

Towards the end of the video, there are some celebrated Indian cricketers who were seen. Each of the IPL teams had one representative in the video. From Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore, we saw their captains and star players, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. From Chennai Super Kings, new recruit K Gowtham was seen while Wriddhiman was the torchbearer for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Shubman Gill of Kolkata Knights Riders and Punjab Kings’ captain KL Rahul were also seen. Rishabh Pant was the representative of Delhi Capitals while young batsman Riyan Parag was the only member of the Rajasthan Royals. Looking at the video, it seems that the video was shot during the Test series between India and England, which ended earlier this year.

The tournament is set to begin on April 9. After the 2020 edition was forced out of India, the tournament had to be scheduled in the United Arab Emirates. However, this time around the league has been scheduled to be played in India. The opening match will see Kohli’s RCB take on the defending champions Mumbai Indians led by Rohit Sharma in Chennai.
