2. Deepak Hooda

The similar reasons apply for Deepak Hooda too. Ever since he made his debut for the Indian T20 side, Hooda has been nothing but brilliant. He is another player who’s very likely to travel to Australia for the T20 World Cup and thus giving him rest for the South Africa series makes sense.
Shreyas Iyer is likely to come in place of Hooda for the series against the Proteas. He is currently a stand-by player for the Asia Cup and thus will be given some time in the middle to gear up for the World Cup. Based on his performance against South Africa, he can be considered for selection in the main squad for the World Cup.
Hooda, in the two matches that he batted, scored just 26 runs. His T20I performance however depicts another story. He has scored 274 runs from 9 matches at a strike-rate of 161.17. He also is one of the five Indian cricketers who has a T20I century.
