PCA Masters XI took on the Sri Lankan T20 team Chilaw Marians Cricket Club in the International 20-20 Club Championship in 2005. The PCA Masters team was led by Martyn Ball which had Chris Gayle on their side. Lancashire got a chance to host the quarter-final match in the 2009 T20 Cup after topping the North Group with eight victories out of the ten matches. The first successful attempt came from Shane Bond who knocked down the stumps in his both turns. At the same time, Ian Bradshaw failed in both chances but Scott Styris hitting in his first chance gave New Zealand a winning lead of 3-0.</p>

<h3>3. Canada vs Zimbabwe in 2008</h3>

The 3rd match of the competition was played between Canada and Zimbabwe at the Maple Leaf North-West Ground in King City. The home team posted 135/7 in their 20 overs despite no player even scoring 25 runs. Zimbabwe made a royal mess of the small chase losing half their side for 61 runs in 11 overs.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.crictracker.com/tatenda-taibu-showcases-his-sons-keeping-skills-tags-ms-dhoni-to-give-his-views/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>Tatenda Taibu</strong></a> and Elton Chigumbura added 53 runs from only 5.5 overs to make things easy for Zimbabwe. The partnership was broken triggering a collapse when Zimbabwe were further needed 22 from 20 balls. With six needed from last two balls, skipper Prosper Utseya found a boundary on the penultimate ball but could only pick a leg-bye on the last ball. With the game ending in a Tie, both the teams took part in the bowl out for determining who picked 2 points from this game.</p>
<p>Canada’s Rizwan Cheema bowled first and was successful in it. For Zimbabwe, Prosper Utseya bowled first and levelled the bowl out scoreline to 1-1. Harvir Baidwan missed the stumps in Canada’s second attempt but Chamu Chibhabha helped Zimbabwe take 2-1 lead. The Canada skipper Sunil Dhaniram also missed in his attempt but Tatenda Taibu rolled his arm to secure two points for the Zimbabwe team.</p>

<h3>2. PCA Masters XI in International 20:20 Club Championship 2005</h3>

<p>PCA Masters XI took on the Sri Lankan T20 team Chilaw Marians Cricket Club in the International 20-20 Club Championship in 2005. The PCA Masters team was led by Martyn Ball which had Chris Gayle on their side. It was Gayle’s debut T20 game and the same was the case for the Indian Internationals Robin Singh, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/parthiv-patel-reveals-how-he-lost-a-finger-glad-to-keep-wickets-for-india-with-nine-fingers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>Parthiv Patel</strong></a> and Rohan Gavaskar. The PCA team also had veteran pacer Phillip DeFreitas and New Zealand’s Craig Spearman.</p>
<p>The Chilaw team, who batted first after losing the toss, made 21/0 in 2.1 overs before the rain abandoned the game. Gayle bowled the first over and gave away as many as 16 runs including 5 wides at a go. He got an opportunity to redeem himself with the ball as he was the first to roll his arms in the bowl out. The Caribbean smasher aimed the target perfectly so did Rohan Gavaskar, Nadeem Shahid, Robin Singh, DeFreitas and Martyn Ball for the PCA Masters.</p>
<p>They won the bowl out by 6-2 margin as only Dinuka Hettiarachchi and Praneeth Jayasundera hit for Chilaw Marians CC team. On the same day, the game between Leicestershire and Faisalabad Wolves was won by Leicester in the bowl out by 5-3 margin as it was also abandoned. PCA Masters XI was scheduled to play Titans on the same day but were restricted to play bowl out due to the rains.</p>
<p>Rohan Gavaskar, Nadeem Shahid, Robin Singh, Mark Hardinges and Johnathan Lewis were successful in hitting for the PCA XI. Gulam Bodi, Morne/Albie Morkel, Brendon Reddy, Alviro Petersen and Paul Harris hit during their turns to level the bowl out 5-5. But in the sudden death, Jon Lewis hit the stumps cleanly to seal a 6-5 win in the bowl out for the PCA Masters XI. They also qualified to the semi-final with back to back wins in the bowl out.</p>

<h3>1. Lancashire vs Somerset in 2009</h3>

<p>Lancashire got a chance to host the quarter-final match in the 2009 T20 Cup after topping the North Group with eight victories out of the ten matches. Somerset, who finished at 3rd position in Midlands/Wales ground, toured Manchester to face the hosts at the Old Trafford. The game was scheduled to be played on July 28th but no play was possible on the reserve day as well. ECB allowed an extra day to get through the match due to poor weather forecast on the reserve day.</p>
<p>As no play was possible on second reserve day as well, the match officials had to arrange a bowl out. The thunderstorm didn’t let the venue suitable to be for a bowl out as well. Hence, the umpires decided to host the bowl out in Lancashire’s indoor school to eliminate one of the two teams. Steven Cheetham was the only player to strike the stumps for Lancashire as <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/it-was-so-hard-to-get-through-his-technique-brett-lee-recalls-bowling-to-vvs-laxman/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>VVS Laxman</strong></a>, Stephen Parry and skipper Mark Chilton missed both their attempts for the hosts.</p>
<p>Peter Trego, Charl Willoughby and Ben Phillips struck once each while Alfonso Thomas was successful at his both attempts. As a result, Somerset won the bowl out by 5-1 margin with the requirement of the 5th bowler. Laxman spent about four months with Lancashire during the 2009 domestic season as an overseas player for the county and played all formats. Somerset turned up in the final where they lost to Sussex by a big margin of 63 runs.</p>
