5. Chris Gayle’s displeasure on not been retained by RCB (IPL 2018)

Chris Gayle, who is often regarded as the Universal Boss of the shortest format, had once churned out his extreme disappointment against the RCB franchise for not retaining him in IPL 2018. As per Gayle’s comments, the RCB franchise before the 2018 auction, had assured him about his potential retention, but during the auction day, the management barely made any kind of bid on Chris Gayle’s proposition.
Earlier in IPL 2017, Chris Gayle had an inferior season with RCB as only 200 runs had come from his nine outings in that season. However, soon after the IPL and while playing in the CPL and BPL, Gayle was again seeing topping the charts which also involved two invigorating Gayle-storm centuries from his bat.
Hence, his brimming batting form would have also played a crucial role regarding Gayle’s anticipated retention. Nevertheless, after facing ignorance from the RCB franchise, Chris Gayle highly criticized the management for giving him false impressions before the auction.
The Universal Boss, who is often a peppy character both on and off the field had unaffectedly accepted his departure, but a false assurance turned out as a disheartening experience for him.
Later on, when Chris Gayle had started to score heavily for the PBKS team, the RCB fans had distinctly denounced the red army regarding the Jamaican’s omission.
