28-year old Alex Hales had been in fine form in the ODI and T20I circuit before an unfortunate injury concluded what would have been an impressive tour of India. However, after what has been a seemingly speedy recovery, things now seem to be well and truly back in place as far as the England batsman is concerned. As per his twitter handle and a statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board, Alex Hales is seemingly fit enough to join the squad in Antigua for the first ODI against the West Indies.

While Hales’ tweet received its fair share of traction, it was the statement from the ECB that prompted some amount of interrogation into the same. The statement went on to read that he would continue his rehab in the West Indies along with the field medical staff and would then go on to become a part of the squad until the medical and coaching team in the West Indies deem him to be fit enough to play.

“Alex Hales arrives tomorrow evening local time,” confirmed the England and Wales Cricket Board. “He will continue his rehab with us until the medical and coaching teams deem he is fit enough to join the squad officially.”

Should Hales be fit enough to play, he will once again rejoin his opening partner Jason Roy. The latter has been in decent touch of late with a few magnificent shots and some impressive aggression with the bat as well. Hales, who himself is an aggressor would seem as though it is the perfect opening combination England have found in recent times.

Hales tweeted: “Antigua tomorrow. Can’t wait to get back amongst it!”
