The ongoing season of Big Bash League (BBL) is going deep with teams looking to seal their place for the knockout games. Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes lock horns in match 34 at the historic WACA ground in Perth. The home side is sitting pretty at the second position in the points table with six wins from 8 matches so far and a win will rocket them past Adelaide Strikers who are currently at the top.

Scorchers are in amazing form this season and are going in the right direction to defend the title they won last year. They defeated Strikers with utter ease in Alice Springs almost a week ago and won the top of the table clash in style. Though they would guard against complacency with Hurricanes in front of them on a super Saturday and put up a strong show at home ground. Moreover, their skipper Adam Voges is back now after serving the suspension of a game due to slow over-rate.

Hurricanes, on the other hand, were on a five-match winning spree before losing a close game to Strikers only a couple of days ago. They are at the third position in the points table only behind their opponents in this game and will almost seal their position in the top four if they win. Their record playing away this season has been decent and would love to continue in the same vein.

A mouth-watering clash is certainly on the cards as the teams will fight it out in Perth.

Here’s what we, at CricTracker predicts for the game:

Scenario 1: Perth Scorchers win the toss

Toss Prediction: Perth Scorchers decide to bowl first

First Innings Prediction: 175-185

Scenario 2: Hobart Hurricanes win the toss

WACA has hosted three matches so far this season out of which the last couple have been a high-scoring one and the team chasing has won which leads to the team winning the toss to bowl first. Scorchers are way too strong at home having won all the three matches and will continue their unbeaten record.

Head to Head Record

Overall: Total Matches – 7, Scorchers Won – 5, Hurricanes Won – 2

Playing Combination

Perth Scorchers

The hosts have their skipper Adam Voges back in the mix. He will straight away be drafted back into the playing XI. They will miss the services of Jhye Richardson who has been picked in the national side for the ODI series against England. Sam Whiteman has been included in the 13-man squad for them who might have to warm the bench. They are most likely to play the same eleven which won them the last match under the leadership of Ashton Agar.

The batting order led by Cameron Bancroft is easily the best of the tournament as they have gunned down some big totals this year. Mitchell Johnson breathes fire with the new ball as he will be assisted by Joel Paris and Tim Bresnan. Agar will take the spin bowling duties in his hand and has bowled well so far.

Probable XI:  Adam Voges (C), Ashton Agar, Cameron Bancroft, William Bosist, Tim Bresnan, Tim David, Mitchell Johnson, Matthew Kelly, Michael Klinger, Joel Paris, Ashton Turner

Hobart Hurricanes

D’Arcy Short has been in the form of his life for Hurricanes this year and would love to bat in the same way in the crucial encounter. His partner Jake Weatherald though has blown hot and cold and will continue opening the innings with him. The middle-order, however, has underperformed for them failing to deliver whenever it mattered the most. The skipper George Bailey, Ben McDermott, Daniel Christian have struggled to score runs consistently and needs to hunt in the pack in order to overcome the stern challenge of Scorchers.

Simon Milenko is available for selection after missing out in the last game and should replace Nathan Reardo in the playing XI. The rest of the line-up should remain unchanged as the bowlers have also been brilliant for them this time around.

Probable XI:  George Bailey (C), Matthew Wade (wk), Daniel Christian, Tymal Mills, Alex Doolan, Cameron Boyce, Clive Rose, Ben McDermott, Simon Milenko, D’Arcy Short, Jofra Archer

The clash between the two heavyweights of this season will go right down to the wire but the home side is expected to prevail in the thriller.

The prediction is for Perth Scorchers to win the match and regain the top spot in the table.
