In what has been a shocking development over the past few months, the BCCI has continued the exile of Indian cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle. The news was broken when Bhogle was not named as a part of the commentary team for the upcoming series between India and the West Indies to be played in Florida later this month. Although the BCCI is an exciting time where they are attempting to break new ground, it is clear that Harsha Bhogle will not be a part of these plans.

Harsha Bhogle has been widely regarded by many as the ‘voice of Indian cricket’. Although he has not played professionally, Bhogle has a vast knowledge of the sport and has been voicing most of his opinions on the radio or national television from the haven of the commentary box. He also boasts of massive testimonials from former players such as Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar who have showered him with praise over the years.

However, the reason for the exclusion from the commentary box in recent times has been apparently due to complaints received by the BCCI regarding some of the comments made by Bhogle whilst interviewing the players on national television. Reports close to the BCCI have disclosed that the current incumbent skipper of the Indian side MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli have made complaints about the same.

An incident occurred earlier when Bhogle was a part of the commentary team that involved India Test skipper Virat Kohli. The 27-year old was reportedly upset with some of the comments made by Bhogle and reportedly refused to speak to Bhogle. Instead, Kohli was interviewed by former India skipper Sourav Ganguly, something that found its way to the ears of Anurag Thakur, incumbent president o the BCCI.

Since then, the disgraced Indian commentator has taken to social media to voice his opinions as well as analysis of the series that are being played. It is also highly unlikely that Ravi Shastri will make a comeback to the commentary box after being frozen out as Team Director of the Indian Cricket Team.
