The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently brought up their 7 millionth follower on Twitter. After BCCI, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Cricket South Africa (CSA) have the most number of followers on Twitter.

1. BCCI (7.85 million followers)

The Indian Cricket Board seems miles away from the rest of the boards on the basis of following on Twitter. Formed in 1928, it is a consortium of a number of State Boards of association. It is responsible for producing stalwarts one after the other through almost 6 decades now. BCCI boasts the World Cup of 1983, 2011 and T20 WC of 2007. Presently, India holds the numero uno position in Tests as well. The other factor for its high following on social media is the mammoth population of the cricket crazy nation. As of now, BCCI is the powerhouse of global cricket.

The passion for cricket for fans in India can only be challenged by the fans of their neighbors on the east, Bangladesh . The team has improved leaps in bounds in the last few years in all formats of the game especially in ODIs. They have performed exceedingly well in the last edition of the Champions Trophy and World Cup as the Tigers reached the quarter-finals and the semi-finals of the competition respectively. India proved to be their kryptonite on both the occasions.

The most controversial board of all times, heading yet another cricket frenzied nation is the Pakistan Cricket Board. PCB had to struggle off-late to convince the other boards to visit their country to play home matches. The recent fallout with the Australian Cricket Association might have increased their number of followers lately, but Cricket Australia firmly holds the fourth position with 864k followers

6. ECB (751k followers)

England and Wales Cricket Board are one of the oldest cricket board which handles the Three Lions. The England Women’s Team recently brought laurels to the Board as they clinched their fourth World Cup. Unfortunately, the men’s team has not been able to replicate their feat even though they won the T20 World Cup of 2009. They would start as favorites in the next edition of the World Cup. ECB holds the sixth place with 751k followers.

7. SLC (669k followers)

Sri Lankan Cricket is going through a turmoil at the moment which triggered especially post the retirement of their three legendary cricketers Mahela Jayawardena, Kumar Sangakkara and Tillakaratne Dilshan. Sri Lanka has always been renowned to bring in their unique brand of cricket but unfortunately have struggled even against traditionally weaker opponents lately. SLC is placed 7th in the list with 669k followers.

8. NZC (375k followers)

One of the most efficient boards in World Cricket which has consistently produced world-class sides era after era despite limitations of the population and square field area, New Zealand Cricket are placed eighth in the list with 375k followers.

9. WICB (281k followers)

It has been a couple of decades now as West Indies have struggled to compete with the quality opposition in all format of the game consistently. West Indies following on Twitter represents the declining interested of Cricket in the Carribean.

10. ZC (246k followers)

Zimbabwe Cricket is on a rise especially after recent achievement and return of their star players. They are placed 10th on the list of most followed cricket board across the board.
