The Coronavirus pandemic has brought the human life to a stand still. Most of the countries are under lockdown even as healthcare workers are trying their best to save the lives of the people. The situation is similar in India with more than 8000 cases of Coronavirus in the country and a lot of cricketers and celebrities have already come forward to help the poor and needy people.

Bengal cricketer Abhimanyu Easwaran has also joined the bandwagon now. He has donated Rs 2.5 lakh to Dehradun Police to help the migrant labourers due to the lockdown enforced in the country. The daily wage workers have suffered mostly during this pandemic as they are left with nothing to do and have been struggling to earn money for their daily needs.

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) issued a statement on behalf of Easwaran. The statement also confirmed that they have already provided ration and food to 100 families in need in Kolkata.

We have to come together and help each other, says Abhimanyu Easwaran

“In these tough times we have to come together and help each other. In a humbling effort we have donated Rs 2.5 lakh to the police in Dehradun to feed the migrant labourers stuck at the borders. We have also provided food and ration for 100 plus underprivileged families back home. It is not much when the demand is for much more, but we are happy to help,” Abhimanyu Easwaran said in a statement according to India Today.

The Bengal skipper last took the field in the Ranji Trophy final against Saurashtra last month. Bengal unfortunately couldn’t lift the trophy but the did well under Easwaran’s leadership. On a personal note, he didn’t have a great season with the bat as Abhimanyu mustered only 258 runs in 17 innings with a solitary half-century.

He was also the part of the India A side for the New Zealand tour and even there, the left-hander scored 8 and 26 runs in the two innings he batted in Christchurch. Abhimanyu Easwaran will be keen to make amends in the next domestic season and comeback strongly with the bat.
