After deleting profile pictures and photos from their respective social media accounts, Royal Challengers Bangalore, on Friday, unveiled a new logo ahead of IPL 2020. The new RCB logo is of a Lion returning to the Royal Lineage with a crown on his head. Still in pursuit for their maiden IPL trophy, Virat Kohli and Co. will be hoping that the new logo will change their fortunes for the upcoming season.

The Bangalore-based franchise, who managed to reach the IPL final thrice, are yet to win a trophy. In 2016, RCB cruised to the final of the tournament but the Virat Kohli-led side has been struggling since. After finishing with the wooden spoon last season, the move of redesigning their logo seems to be their resort in the wake of constant failures.

After revealing a fresh logo, RCB also treated their fans by presenting a new-look jersey for IPL 2020. The jersey is perfectly balanced in two red and black halves, separated by a golden stroke.

Skipper Virat Kohli also came up with a witty tweet for the newly-launched logo while shedding more light on what it means to the franchise and its fans. However, the move of redesigning their logo wasn’t welcomed with open arms by RCB fans. Most fans lashed out at the franchise on their ‘New logo’ tweet.

RCB has been criticized for their title drought

While some alleged that they have copied the logo, others hilariously trolled them and asked the franchise to change the players not their logo. Amid the fans’ bashing, it was none other than their ex-chairman Vijay Mallya, who joined the bandwagon and took a hilarious dig at RCB for their failure to clinch the IPL trophy yet.

“A new chapter begins,” tweeted RCB while sharing a clip of their journey since the inception of IPL. Mallya responded to the tweet saying– “Great…but win the trophy!”

Mallya, in 2016, resigned as the director of Royal Challengers Bangalore. Since his resignation last year, Mallya has not been associated and involved in any operations of the franchise whatsoever.

The Virat Kohli-led side has been on the receiving end of criticism because of their title drought. However, with the inclusion of Aaron Finch, Chris Morris, Kane Richardson and Dale Steyn, RCB is expected to mount a challenge against all teams in IPL 2020.
