Jamaica Tallawahs arrested their three-match losing streak against the St Lucia Stars and are currently placed in the third position of the points table with four wins from seven matches. Andre Russell’s men will now face the Barbados Tridents in their next encounter of this year’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The Tridents, though placed fifth, have five matches in hand.

Their bowling has been phenomenal, but the batters haven’t quite been able to lend them appropriate support. However, their batting isn’t short of firepower by any means and can’t be undermined. In their last outing, Jason Holder and Co defended 157 runs and would be looking to put forth another triumph. They would also want to resurrect their Net Run Rate of -0.488.

Pitch

The pitch at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown helped the bowlers to a significant extent. However, New Zealand batsman Brendon McCullum showed that run making on the strip isn’t tumultuous by any stretch of the imagination if one is ready to bide time. Teams are likely to bat first after winning the toss bearing in mind the slow and low nature of the wicket.

Team Combination

Barbados Tridents

The Tridents may want to bring back Martin Guptill and give him one more opportunity. He will open with Dwayne Smith, who has had a jittery campaign with the bat. Shai Hope has to drop to number three in that scenario with Steve Smith to take charge at number four. In the bowling department, Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Irfan remain to be their gun bowlers.

Predicted XI

Dwayne Smith, Martin Guptill, Shai Hope, Steve Smith, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Jason Holder, Tion Webster, Raymon Reifer, Ashley Nurse, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Irfan

Jamaica Tallawahs

The Tallawahs may not change their lineup after their last victory against the Stars. Glenn Phillips and Johnson Charles are the opening batsmen. Rovman Powell and Andre Russell have to come to the party with the willow. Russell will also need to deliver with the ball along with seam-bowling partner Oshane Thomas. Imad Wasim, Adam Zampa, and Samuel Badree are the spinners.

Predicted XI

Glenn Phillips (wk), Johnson Charles, Kennar Lewis, Ross Taylor, Rovman Powell, Andre Russell, David Miller, Imad Wasim, Adam Zampa, Samuel Badree, Oshane Thomas

Probable top performers

Mohammed Irfan- Barbados Tridents, Imad Wasim- Jamaica Tallawahs

The prediction is for Barbados Tridents to win their match.
