The 2021 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is set to get underway on August 28 and the tournament will take place in St Kitts and Nevis. The Trinbago Knight Riders, captained by Kieron Pollard, are the defending champions after they beat the St Lucia Zouks by eight wickets in the final last season at the Brian Lara Stadium.

Lendl Simmons turned out to be the Player of the Match. In the meantime, ahead of the upcoming season three months later, the focus was on the players’ draft that took place on Friday, May 28. The full squads of all the six participating teams were released.

The Knight Riders and Guyana Amazon Warriors had already retained most of their players and hence, they didn’t have to make many changes to their squad. The tournament will be a witness to several overseas stars, including Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Hafeez, Anrich Nortje, and Wanindu Hasaranga among others.

Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladesh all-rounder, who still holds the record for the only six-wicket haul in the tournament, will turn out for the Jamaica Tallawahs. Chris Gayle, after taking a break, is set to ply his trade for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
