Along with Maxwell, the Aussie opener David Warner was also receiving severe criticism for failing to do wonders in the initial stage of the tournament. The southpaw rfoud his form at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium with his 163-run knock off 124 deliveries and helped his team hammer Pakistan by 62 runs.
Warner continued his magnificent form in the next two matches with his knocks of 104 (93) and 81 (65) against the Netherlands and New Zealand, respectively. The 37-year-old ended up with 535 runs in 11 matches and emerged as Australia’s most successful batter in the competition.
In June 2023, Warner announced that he would finish his Test career after playing the Sydney Test against Pakistan in January 2024. Noting this announcement, it can be said that the dashing opener might hang up his boots before the World Cup 2027 as he is already 37 and was struggling to be at his best before the ODI event played in India.
