After an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore in their opening match of IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians will be gunning to register their first win of the season when they take on Chennai Super Kings on April 8 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The MS Dhoni-led side meanwhile lost their first game against Gujarat Titans but made an emphatic return against Lucknow Super Giants and with that, they are currently sixth in the IPL 2023 points table.
Despite so, two-time world champion Yusuf Pathan reminded that even though Chennai are coming after a win, it will be difficult to beat Mumbai on their home turf. The former cricketer also pointed out that the fans in Mumbai will always cheer for CSK skipper MS Dhoni but in the end, they will wish MI to bag two points.
“Fans in Mumbai will always want MS Dhoni to entertain them with his performance but wish Mumbai Indians to win the match. But you see it is difficult to beat MI at home. There have been 10 matches between CSK and MI at Wankhede Stadium so far and MI have won seven times. If you believe in the figures, then Mumbai Indians are definitely going to pocket those two vital points,” Yusuf Pathan said while talking to Star Sports.
Rohit Sharma might just come out all guns blazing: Tom Moody
After losing their opening game, former cricketer Tom Moody believes that the five-time IPL winner Rohit Sharma might come out all guns blazing to win against CSK. The 57-year-old also spoke on the epic rivalry between the two franchises.
“In the 15 years of IPL, both CSK and MI share nine trophies between them. So, there's a lot of pride in what these two extraordinary teams do and how they operate. These two teams have been doing well and the rivalry is good. It's also going to be a big moment for MI captain Rohit Sharma as he's playing at home and he might just come out all guns blazing tomorrow,” Moody stated.
