The exhilarating action is continuing in IPL 2023 as Gujarat Titans are hosting Sunrisers Hyderabad in match 62 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. After being put into bat first, Gujarat were looking for a big finish in the final over with their score reading 186/5 and with Shubman Gill (101* off 57) and Dasun Shanaka (8* off 6) at the crease.

However, all of their hopes were crushed as SRH seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a splendid last over giving away just two runs (one of them being a bye) and picking up three wickets and also inflicting a run-out. The bizarre over saw four wickets falling as the seamer completed his second five-wicket haul of his IPL career becoming the third bowler to achieve the feat.

Kumar finished his spell with figures of 5/30 in four overs and restricted GT to 188/9 in the first innings. The 33-year-old began the over by dismissing the well-set Gill as he hit the ball straight to Abdul Samad at extra cover. On the second ball, he sent Rashid Khan on his way back to the pavilion making him edge the ball straight to Heinrich Klaasen behind the stumps.

On the third delivery, the medium-fast bowler failed to get a hat-trick but completed a team hat-trick for his side with his shy at the striker’s end to run out Noor Ahmad. Kumar further made Mohammed Shami his fifth victim getting him out caught at long-on.

Bhuvneshwar registers third-best figures for SRH in IPL

On the last ball, Mohit Sharma managed to run a bye to end the eventful over for SRH. GT failed to capitalize on the good start they had got as they were 131/1 after 12 overs and could only manage to score 57 runs in the last eight overs losing eight wickets.

Notably, Bhuvneshwar isn’t having a great season so far as he had picked just nine wickets in the first 11 matches of the season. However, the five-wicket haul against GT must’ve done his confidence a world of good heading into the final stage of the tournament.
