Former spinner Nikhil Chopra has said that it was a wonderful gesture shown by Virat Kohli as he was seen talking to an underfire KL Rahul during a practice session regarding how to play in Australian conditions. The interaction took place a day prior to India's ICC T20 World Cup 2022 encounter against Bangladesh at the Adelaide Oval.
A video of Kohli giving some valuable tips to Rahul had gone viral on social media as the latter was seen listening to the batting megastar's advice very keenly. The Karnataka cricketer had registered scores of 4,9 and 9 in the first three games.
We saw that Virat Kohli had spent a lot of time with KL Rahul: Nikhil Chopra
"During the training session we saw that Virat Kohli had spent a lot of time with KL Rahul explaining how to bat on these (Australian) pitches. So, there is a bit concern. Virat Kohli and everyone knows that if KL Rahul also scores runs then the Indian team will be very strong. The middle order is being handled very well with the way Suryakumar Yadav is scoring runs, add to that the availability of Hardik Pandya as well", said Nikhil Chopra while speaking on 'Batbricks7 presents Run Ki Runneeti' on CricTracker.
In the ongoing game against Bangladesh, KL Rahul looked a bit unsettled initially. However, after skipper Rohit Sharma's early dismissal, he cut loose and showed a fearless intent. He was involved in a 67-run second wicket stand with Virat Kohli and went on to score a splendid half-century.
The opener scored 50 runs off 32 deliveries at an impressive strike rate of 156.25 including three fours and four sixes. Rahul was all set for a big score before being dismissed by Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan in the 10th over where he ended up hitting one straight to Mustafizur Rahman while attempting to clear the ropes. Nonetheless, this half-century would do a world of good to KL Rahul's confidence as the tournament progresses.
