Following the conclusion of the two-match Test series which resulted in a draw, Pakistan host New Zealand in a three-match ODI series starting on January 9. In 2021, the two heavyweights were to play the 50-over contest in Pakistan, however, due to security concerns, the visitors pulled out from the series.
Now, with New Zealand returning to Pakistan soil, fans will be excited to witness the two teams crossing swords. Karachi will be hosting all three One Day fixtures. The three One Day fixtures form a part of the World Cup Super League, however, both sides have cemented their place in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
As the road for the ODI World Cup has begun, this series will also mark the beginning of their preparation for the mega event held in India later this year. Speaking about their head-to-head records in the 50-over format, Pakistan has got the upper hand with the most wins against the Black Caps.
In 107 outings, the Men in Green have registered wins in 55 matches whereas the Kiwis have emerged victorious in 48 matches with three games yielding no result and one fixture ending in a tie. Though both teams will look for results in their favour, the series also helps them to experiment with the squad which could be necessary to find the best players who could potentially feature in the ODI World Cup in India. In any case, both sides look terrific on paper and are no doubt contenders for the title of the mega event.
