T20 World Cup 2022: How much prize money will India receive?

One of the fascinating parts of T20 World Cups apart from the pride is the amount of prize money involved in the tournament. The teams are rewarded in a huge way for their performances by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and it is important to acknowledge the efforts. The whole country looks up to the teams in the hunt for the prestigious title and every win in the tournament has a value for it.  

ICC had earlier announced the prize money for the winner of the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia would be $1.6 million while the runners up of the edition will get half of it ($0.8 million). The two losing semi-finalists will receive $400,000 while the remaining eight teams who crashed out in the Super 12 stages will receive $70,000. Every victory in the Super 12 stages is worth $40,000. 

As far as the Indian team, the Men in Blue suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of England in the semi-finals and have yet again missed out on the title chances in T20 World Cup 2022. However, they will receive a prize money of $400,000 for making the semi-finals of the tournament.  

Apart from that, each victory in the Super 12 stages is rewarded with a prize money of $40,000 and India ended up with four wins in five games overall in the tournament. As a result, India will be awarded a total prize money of $560,000, which is approximately equal to INR 4.51 crores.

Meanwhile, the T20 World Cup is all set for the final between Pakistan and England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and notably, both teams have already had a taste of T20 World Cup victory previously in different editions. They have performed exceedingly well and are just one win away from bagging the ultimate prize money.
