India defeated their arch-rivals Pakistan by 61 runs on February 15 in the T20 World Cup 2026 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Batting first, India posted 175/7 in their 20 overs, with Ishan Kishan leading the charge with a superb 77. Pakistan spinner Saim Ayub was the standout performer with the ball, returning figures of 3/25 in his four overs.
In reply, Pakistan were bowled out for 114 in 18 overs. Usman Khan top-scored with 44 runs, but lacked support from the other end. Four Indian bowlers picked up two wickets each to wrap up Pakistan’s innings and seal a comprehensive victory.

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan was the top batting performer of the match. The left-handed batter scored 77 runs off 40 balls, smashing 10 fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 192.50. He stitched together a crucial 87-run partnership off 46 deliveries for the second wicket with Tilak Varma, setting the tone for the innings. Kishan dominated the Pakistan bowlers early on and consistently kept them under pressure with his aggressive stroke play.

Top bowling performance of the match - Saim Ayub
Pakistan all-rounder Saim Ayub was the standout performer with the ball in the match. He returned impressive figures of 3/25 in his four overs, maintaining an economy rate of 6.20. Ayub dismissed key batters Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, and Hardik Pandya, briefly tightening Pakistan’s grip on the Indian batting lineup during the middle phase of the innings.
