The USA defeated the Netherlands by 93 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, February 13.

Scott Edwards won the toss for the Netherlands and invited the USA to bat first. Monank Patel and Shayan Jahangir got the USA off to a flying start, adding 27 runs inside three overs. After Jahangir was dismissed, Monank and Saiteja Mukkamalla took the attack to the Netherlands bowlers.

They forged a 55-run stand off 37 balls to lay a solid platform for the batters to follow. Monank departed for a 22-ball 36. Sanjay Krishnamurthi was also dismissed in quick succession. However, Mukkamalla held the innings together with his 51-ball 79.

Milind Kumar and Harmeet Singh were dismissed cheaply, but Shubham Ranjane played a magnificent 48-run knock off 24 balls to help the USA finish on 196/6.

In reply, the Netherlands lost Michael Levitt in the second over. Max O'Dowd and Bas de Leede tried to take the fight to the USA, but once their 32-run partnership was broken, things went downhill for the Netherlands.

The Dutch side kept losing wickets at regular intervals as none of the batters managed to hold fort. They were bowled out for 103 in 15.5 overs. Harmeet Singh was the pick of the bowlers, as he bagged a four-for. Shadley van Schalkwyk continued his red-hot form with the ball, as he took three wickets.

Shubham Ranjane played a remarkable knock down the order, but Saiteja Mukkamalla has to be the top performer with the bat on Friday as his 79 runs off 51 balls became the glue in the USA's batting effort. He smashed five boundaries and four sixes, finishing with a strike rate of 154.90.

Harmeet Singh was the star performer with the ball on Friday. He bamboozled the Netherlands batters with his accuracy and subtle variations. In his four-over spell, Harmeet picked up four important wickets and gave away just 21 runs.
