After winning against Pakistan, Netherlands and Bangladesh, team India are on the verge of qualifying for the semi-finals of the tournament. However, they cannot afford to lose as there are other teams waiting in the wings to topple the first-ever champions of the T20 World Cup. Zimbabwe, on the other hand, with three points, are on the verge of elimination but mathematically still have a chance to qualify for the next round. Thus, their clash at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, November 6 will definitely be a cracking one.

Coming back to the Men in Blue, the Rohit Sharma-led side has played some quality cricket so far and proved themselves to be one of the contenders to lift the prestigious trophy. Former captain Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav are in terrific form and played quite a few match-winning knocks so far while KL Rahul, who was struggling early on, scored a much-needed half-century against Bangladesh. However, Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik’s form remains to be a matter of concern.

When it comes to bowlers, Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Shami have been sensational so far. Arshdeep has delivered whenever it was necessary and has nine wickets from four matches so far. All-rounder Hardik Pandya too has shown glimpses of his quality though Ravichandran Ashwin has blown hot and cold so far. The team management can consider bringing Yuzvendra Chahal in when they face Zimbabwe on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe have shown a lot of maturity and after beating Pakistan early into the tournament, they would look forward to causing another upset. Sikandar Raza has been in phenomenal form so far in the tournament and if he manages to prove himself against India, he can very well be one of the most sought-after in the IPL auction.

Like Raza, Blessing Muzarabani too will be raring to prove himself against the Rohit Sharma-led side. With 11 wickets from seven matches, he currently is the third-leading wicket-taker of the tournament. The Chevrons will be charged to beat one of the contenders for the trophy and prove themselves in the international circuit.

Pitch Conditions

The surface at Melbourne will help the pacers early on but with time, the batters will dominate the game. It is not expected to change a lot and thus, the team winning the toss will be eager to bowl first.
