Steady knocks from Saud Shakeel (68) and Mohammad Rizwan (68), followed by a clinical bowling performance, helped Pakistan beat the Netherlands by a margin of 81 runs in the second match of the 2023 ODI World Cup at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Early in the game, Netherlands opted to bowl first, and Logan van Beek struck early to remove Fakhar Zaman for 12 runs. Pakistan lost two quick wickets and were left reeling at 38-3. Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel steadied the innings with a 120-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Both batters scored half-centuries before being dismissed. There were useful contributions from Mohammad Nawaz (39) and Shadab Khan (32), but Pakistan were eventually bowled out for 286 in 49 overs. Bas de Leede was the pick of the Netherlands bowlers with 4-62 in 9 overs.
In response to Pakistan's 286, Hasan Ali struck early to dismiss Max O'Dowd for five runs. Colin Ackermann was also dismissed for 17. Vikramjit Singh and Bas de Leede then put together a 70-run partnership for the third wicket. Vikramjit Singh was dismissed for 52 runs, and Bas de Leede was dismissed for 67 by Mohammad Nawaz. Logan van Beek contributed 28 runs, but no other batter contributed much, and the Netherlands were bowled out for 205 in 41 overs.
