Reigning champions Gujarat Titans (GT) face off against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match No. 23 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on a doubleheader Sunday, April 16, 2023. The rematch of last year’s final is slated to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad which was also the venue of the summit clash in 2022. The two sides will meet again in the reverse fixture in Match No. 48 on Friday, May 05 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

GT began their season with two victories in the opening two games against four-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC). Rinku Singh’s heroics denied Hardik Pandya’s side a win in their third match of the season. The Titans then returned to winning ways again by beating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their fourth encounter. With six points and a net run rate of +0.341, they are placed in the third position in the table.

On the other hand, the runners-up of the last edition, RR started off their current season with a win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). They lost their second game against PBKS but have now won two on the bounce against DC and CSK. With six points and an NRR of +1.588, they are topping the table. (All scenarios till match No. 21). The Royals will look for revenge as they also lost all three games played against GT last year including the mega final.
