16-year-old Naseem Shah was the centre of attraction as Pakistan locked horns with Australia in the first match of the two-match Test series. The teenager scripted history by breaking into the national side at a tender age of 16. Naseem’s mother passed away on Tuesday morning, ahead of the first Test match. However, he decided to say with the national side in Australia.

It was perhaps not a great first day for Pakistan on the field. They bundled out for just 240 runs after their top-order collapsed against a formidable Australian bowling line-up. Although Pakistan failed to post a massive total on the scoreboard on the first day, it was a momentous day for the youngster who was handed his Test cap by Pakistan’s legendary pacer Waqar Younis. It was an unforgettable moment for Nassem as he broke down in tears after receiving his cap. Waqar Younis also shared a tweet about the youngster, labelling him as a lion-hearted boy.

Naseem was lauded by many individuals of the cricket fraternity including Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar and former England skipper Michael Vaughan. Akhtar compared Naseem to Virat Kohli, who had also returned to play for Delhi after the demise of his father. Akhtar also added that Pakistan have discovered a solid bowler to bolster their pace-attack.

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan also heaped praises on the youngster. Vaughan regarded it as a very special moment when Naseem broke down after being presented with the Test debut cap. ‘This was a very special moment..!!’ tweeted Vaughan.

All the eyes will be on Naseem, who will aim to leave his mark with the ball after Pakistan’s batting order succumbed against the Australian bowling force. Pakistan batsmen were restricted to a total of 240 by the lethal pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins.

Australia pulverized Pakistan’s top-order after lunch when they reduced the visitors from 75 for none to 78 for four. Naseem has the potential to showcase his wrath against Australia. He has played just six first-class matches. However, he has already picked up 26 wickets including two five-wicket hauls.
