The Global T20 Canada has progressed into the fourth day of the competition. Two games were played yesterday as it was a Sunday and watching both these games was great fun. In the first game of the day, the Vancouver Knights played against the Winnipeg Hawks. Edmonton Royals squared off against Cricket West Indies B team in the second game.

Cricket West Indies B team, having won both the games thus far sit at the top of the points table currently. Edmonton Royals lost the top spot to CWI-B. On the other hand, Vancouver Knights registered their first win of the Global T20 Canada playing against the Winnipeg Hawks. Furthermore, the team batting first managed to win only one game thus far in the tournament. On the 4th day as well, both the teams batting second won the game.

Vancouver Knights vs Winnipeg Hawks – Match 4, Round 1

After registering a big win in the first game, Winnipeg Hawks played against the Vancouver Knights. The Hawks were put into bat first by the Knights. They failed to put a big total on the board. Yet again, David Warner failed to put up some runs on the board. He was dismissed by Sheldon Cottrell for just 4 runs. Ben McDermott, who scored big in the first game also fell cheaply. Tion Webster scored 49 off 34 balls towards the end to take the team to a decent total. Corttrell picked 3 wickets in the innings.

Chasing an easy total of 157, the Knights were not troubled at any stage. However, Chris Gayle failed again and was dismissed for a duck. Also, Evin Lewis was dismissed for just 9 runs. But, the Knights batsmen didn’t take any pressure upon themselves. Rassie van der Dussen anchored the innings with 39 off 44 balls while Babar Hayat took the attack on to the opposition. He scored 65 off just 33 balls and with the company from Andre Russell who scored 21 off 7 at the end, the Knights easily bagged a 6-wicket win.

Edmonton Royals vs CWI-B – Match 5, Round 1

Both Edmonton Royals and CWI-B teams played their second game on consecutive days. CWI-B team won the toss and opted to field first. Royals failed to score big as their in-form batsmen failed to fire. Luke Ronchi and Andre Fletcher were dismissed for 9 and 4 runs respectively. Although Farhaan Behardien scored 29 runs, he scored at a very slow pace and took 39 balls to get these runs. It appeared as if the Royals will put a very low score on the board. But, Kevin O’Brien, who joined the squad recently scored 49 off just 17 balls at the end to take the total to 155.

The Royals were all out for that score within 20 overs. Obed McCoy continued to impress with 4 wickets in this match. CWI-B found it hard in the chase. They were down to 66/6 within the 10th over. It seemed obvious for them to lose this game. However, Fabian Allen who came in at No 8 was the star of the match. He scored 75 off just 30 balls to take his team home with an unbelievable effort as they won the game by 3 wickets. Also, they won the game with 2 overs to spare.
