The 2018 edition of the Pakistan Super League is in the business end of the tournament. With the playoffs getting underway, the action had moved to the Pakistani soil. The players have arrived in Pakistan and so have the team management. The mentor of the Quetta Gladiators, Sir Viv Richards, has also landed in Lahore for the playoffs.

As per the recent quotes in brecorder, Sir Viv Richards remarked that it is always nice to be back in Pakistan. He hopes to see great turnaround for the fixtures this year and believes it will be a better show out than what it was last season.

“It is great to be here again in Lahore, I hope that we will be a little bit more successful than the last time out. It’s great to see everyone and a great place to be, especially with my wife Michelle and myself. As you can see, I have brought Michelle with me, so it indicates it is a safe place,” Sir Viv Richards quoted.

Struggle with the departure of the overseas players

While the legendary Viv Richards had no problems in touring Pakistan, the current players certainly did have their reservations about playing in the country. This is the reason why several overseas players opted out of the Pakistan leg in the tournament. Owing to the same, the worst hit side in this regard is the Quetta Gladiators.

The Gladiators lost the services of their English duo of Kevin Pietersen and Jason Roy. And more recently, two star overseas Australian cricketers also pulled out of the tournament playoffs. Commenting on the same, the Quetta Gladiators skipper, Sarfraz Ahmed, remarked that it is unfortunate to see the overseas players back out their commitments at the last moment.

“It is not fair on part of such foreign players to back out of their commitment at the last minute, as they were ready to come to Pakistan,” Sarfraz Ahmed had said at a press conference after arriving in Pakistan.
