The third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is underway and is currently in the playoffs stages. Karachi, Islamabad, Quetta, and Peshawar qualified as the top-four while Lahore and Multan faced the wrath of elimination. The Qualifier was played between Karachi and Islamabad, which was comprehensively won by Jean-Paul Duminy’s United team by eight wickets.

The tournament now moves to Pakistan where the remaining three games will be played. The Eliminator followed by the Qualifier 2 and the final will be staged in Lahore and Karachi respectively. The first eliminator is scheduled to be played between the Quetta Gladiators and the Peshawar Zalmi at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Rain threats in Lahore

However, the first game might be affected by heavy rain. According to Accuweather, there are 51 percent chances of rain which is when the game is scheduled to begin later this evening. The teams have arrived in the city amidst light showers. The forecast has also signaled showers throughout the day in the city.

In case the game gets washed out, Peshawar will go through on account of finishing above Quetta Gladiators in the league stage courtesy a superior net run-rate. Subsequently, they will be pitted against Imad Wasim’s Karachi Kings on Wednesday. Also, this will be the first instance when Sarfraz Ahmed’s Quetta Gladiators will be knocked out before the final provided rain plays spoilsport.

The tournament has been a witness to some riveting encounters as teams have tried their hearts out to outclass each other. There has been cut-throat competition throughout the league stage. Barring Lahore Qalandars dismal campaign, the remaining five teams have breathed down the shoulders of each other. Meanwhile, the cricketers would be hoping for rain to not interrupt proceedings and for a smooth conduct of the game.
