The youngster lately interacted with the media and revealed the cricketers he idolises. “Yuvraj Singh is one player I look forward to. Apart from him, I really admire MS Dhoni. I’m a big fan of his finishing skills.” Sharma revealed

World Cup victory – The ultimate goal

The cricketer also spoke about India’s shock-defeat against Nepal and Bangladesh in the Asia Cup while expressing their desire to lift the World Cup. “We committed a mistake (in Asia Cup) but this time we are fully ready. We’re concentrating on every team but it’s important to work on our strengths. We want to dominate. We have played some very good cricket so far,”

Moreover, the all-rounder heaped praises on Rahul Dravid and talked about his ambition of graduating to the senior level. “Rahul sir helped me a lot. He always tells me to convert my starts to big knocks. Batting at No. 5, 6 is a different task altogether. The dream is to win (the World Cup) and make it to the senior side. Hopefully, I’ll be able to achieve that,” Sharma added to Hindustan Times.

India have qualified for the quarter-finals after winning three consecutive games against Australia, Papua New Guinea and Zimbabwe respectively at Mount Maunganui in Tauranga. The team has one week after which they will play Bangladesh in the next round. Abhishek Sharma has performed decently thus far and needs to replicate his form in order for India to continue their rich vein of form.
