Cricketers have become quite active on social media platforms after their government announced lockdown in the country. Meanwhile, the cricketing fraternity has begun spending time interacting with their fans. Moreover, the former players like Shane Warne and Aakash Chopra have come out revealing their favourite XIs. Even, Inzamam-ul-Haq has also joined the bandwagon and picked his favourite Pakistan batsman of all time.
In a long history of Pakistan cricket, many legendary players came, played and retired like Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Mohammad Yousuf and many more. So, it is quite difficult for anyone to pick one out of so many fine batsmen. However, Inzamam has picked Javed Miandad as his favourite, who he believes as one of the best that his country has ever produced in its cricketing history.
He had a strong belief in himself, says Inzamam-ul-Haq
Inzamam-ul-Haq, on his YouTube channel, said that, as per him, Javed Miandad was the best batsmen in Pakistan’s cricketing history as far as batting is concerned. The 50-year-old stated that he played for four or five years with him and he had great confidence in his abilities to smack the bowlers all across the park.
“I am going to talk about a player who was the hero of all batsmen when I was playing cricket. I am taking about Javed Miandad. He was the best player Pakistan ever produced at least in terms of batting. I have played with him for four to five years as a player and then also as a coach. He had a strong belief in himself which made him so great,” the former Pakistan skipper said.
He also opened up saying that once Mushtaq Muhammad told him about Javed Miandad’s approach. Inzamam-ul-Haq recalled when they travelled to Australia everyone used to fear to go for batting in top order, but Miandad was always eager to play at that position.
Moreover, he used to sledge bowlers to break their rhythm in the match. There is no doubt over the fact that he was a big match-winner, who used to play fine and calculated knocks irrespective of the conditions. According to Inzamam-ul-Haq, he played with and against many players across the world, but Javed Miandad was the one to explained how to bat in international cricket.
“I once talked to Mushtaq Mohammad, he told me when they went to Australia when Miandad was a youngster, where batsmen feared going on top of the order, Miandad was always eager to go out to bat and had a fearless approach. He would sledge the best bowlers in the world. Usually, bowlers sledge to get batsmen off their rhythm but Miandad turned it around.
“He was a big match player and rose to every occasion. He didn’t let players know how hard the situation is while playing a calculated knock. I have played cricket around the world and I think Javed bhai explained the art of batting the best.,” he added.
