The most exciting T20 league the world has ever seen, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is less than two months away from commencement. Yet, the excitement levels are slowly creeping up across the country and by the time the calendar hits April, the energy levels in the fans are expected to reach terrestrial heights. Such has been the aura of this amazing tournament, which has provided unbelievable entertainment over the last decade.

Right from the outset, when a certain Brendon McCullum introduced the IPL in a blazing way at Bangalore, the brouhaha has come down on very few occasions. This season won’t be any less and the new team combinations are just adding to the excitement. IPL is one league where every team is given a fair shot as far as spending money on players is concerned. That’s one reason the matches more often than not go down the wire.

As the whole country gears up for the biggest cricketing spectacle of 2018, let’s take a look at few amazing last ball sixes which will be revered for a long time to come.

1. Rohit Sharma (DC) vs Kolkata Knight Riders (2009)

Mashrafe Mortaza had the ball in hand with 21 runs to defend for the Knight Riders. Rohit Sharma was on strike for the Deccan Chargers and they needed two points from this game very badly. The over started with a no-ball, which was gleefully accepted by Rohit and was dispatched for a boundary. The Deccan Chargers’ batsmen picked up a couple of singles after that.

Mashrafe succumbed to the pressure and bowled a juicy full toss off the third legal delivery and that went a million miles away from the ground. After picking up a couple and squeezing a boundary off the penultimate ball, the equation was down to 1 run in 1 ball and Rohit hit a huge six over backward-square. Against all the odds, Rohit steered the Chargers to an amazing win. Eventually, they lifted the title and scripted a fairy tale for the ages.
