The rivalry between the Chennai Super Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders is one of the most renowned ones in the history of the IPL. Recently, the two sides locked horns in the 33rd game of the season at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The hosts managed to clinch a very important win in the game. They beat the Super Kings very convincingly to put themselves at a happy place in the points table.

The match served the ideal revenge for the Kolkata Knight Riders, who were earlier beaten by the Super Kings this season in the reverse fixture. Coming to the game, KKR won the toss and opted to field first. The CSK top order got decent starts but no batsman could breach the 40-run mark in the top slot. KKR struck regularly to keep the innings under control. Towards the end, MS Dhoni’s vital cameo of 43 propelled the CSK total to 178/5 in 20 overs.

KKR lost Chris Lynn early in the run chase but Sunil Narine contributed with a quick 32. But the anchoring knock was played by Shubman Gill, who scored a match-winning fifty for his side.
