The uncapped players were the biggest highlights of the IPL 2019 auction. Many unknown commodities went from rags to riches after the raked in the big moolah at the event. These players have largely impressed with their performances in the domestic cricket and various other leagues. The biggest sensation in this category was Tamil Nadu cricketer Varun Chakravarthy.

Varun is a mystery spinner who didn’t have much success in junior cricket. He then quit the game to focus on academics and is an architect by profession. However, at 25, he decided to once again quit, it was his job this time to rediscover his long-lost love – cricket. From a fourth division cricketer, he made rapid progress and now got the highest bid at the auction. It made him the first ever to earn the highest bid in an IPL auction being an uncapped player.

This Mumbai batting all-rounder grabbed everyone’s attention while playing in the Mumbai T20 League earlier this year and during the ongoing Ranji Trophy. He can hit sixes on will and is decent enough with the ball as well.

The 17-year-old Prabhsimran Singh is another surprise pick in the auction. He was not known to many before the auction. However, the youngster is believed to be a hard-hitting batsman who idolises Virender Sehwag. He doubles up as a wicketkeeper.

Also, Uttar Pradesh’s Akshdeep Nath has been rewarded for his consistent performances in the domestic circuit. He was bought for ₹3.60 crores by the RCB. 15-year-old Prayas Ray Burman became the youngest player to get picked in an IPL auction and fetched ₹1.50 crores.
