The Rajasthan Royals (RR) is a team that has underperformed consistently over the years. They have managed to clinch the trophy only once. And their triumph is memorable because they won it way back in 2008, during the inaugural season of the IPL. Now, they are a strong team on paper, but they fail to execute their plans.

This is mainly because most of their star players go off the radar. If one player is in form, many guys are unable to cooperate with him. The Royals failed to cash in during tense situations. And this has been going on for quite some time now.

After the departure of Steve Smith, the captaincy is now handed over to Sanju Samson. The Kerala-born batsman can destroy any bowling attack on his day. Adding on, the likes of Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, and Chris Morris will give him extra options to play with. But, as there are eleven spots available, few players might not get chances regularly.

Here are 3 RR players who might be benched for the most part of the season:

1. Manan Vohra

Manan Vohra had an impressive domestic stint during the 2012-2013 season. This enabled him to get an IPL contract from the KXIP franchise. During the first two seasons, he was a regular member of the playing eleven. This was mostly because of his impressive shot-making ability.

Vohra could generate shots out of nowhere, which means to put off good deliveries. However, during that time, he was inexperienced and this paved the way for his downfall. He got out by playing unnecessary rash shots and hence was criticised. But in 2017, he had a decent IPL season in which he scored a magnificent 95 against a quality SRH attack.

The main reason Vohra has failed to stamp his name as one of the domestic greats in IPL is because of a lack of trust from the captain’s side. Adding on, a run tally of 1012 in 49 matches is a decent effort. Vohra has a strike rate of 131.77, which is a healthy one in this format. But, with young and fresh faces in the RR squad, it is less likely that he will play for the Royals regularly.
