Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings will be facing each other in the 49th match of IPL 2022, to be played at MCA International Stadium in Pune. Last IPL season, RCB reached the Eliminator while CSK were the champions. So far this season, RCB won five and lost five matches while CSK won three and lost six matches. Both teams have played twice in Pune this season, winning once and losing once. When the teams faced each other earlier this season, Chennai Super Kings won by 23 runs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have their openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis out of form. Though Kohli reached his maiden fifty last match, his strike rate in a losing match sparked concern. At number three, Rajat Patidar who replaced an out-of-form Anuj Rawat scored his maiden fifty last match. Glenn Maxwell had been brilliant this season, while Dinesh Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed who began the season in a terrific fashion, haven’t done well in the last three games. Wanindu Hasaranga, Josh Hazlewood, and Harshal Patel have been brilliant with the ball.

CSK were having plenty of opening issues this season, but an incredible 182-run stand between Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway must give them confidence in the matches leading further, to get back to winning ways. MS Dhoni’s return to captaincy began on a positive note, with a 13-run win against SRH. Dwayne Bravo, Mukesh Choudhary, and Maheesh Theekshana have been brilliant for them with the ball.
