Sunrisers Hyderabad have unveiled their official kit ahead of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which is likely to commence in the last week of March. The SRH jersey has retained its original combination of orange and black but the new model looks much sharper than the previous year’s.

The kit has orange dots sprinkled on black sleeves; the neck and collar in pure black, to go along with plain orange lower gear. “Presenting our new jersey. The #OrangeArmour for the #OrangeArmy 🧡#ReadyToRise #IPL,” SRH tweeted on February 9 on their official Twitter handle as they made the official announcement.

Meanwhile, earlier the same day, one of the two latest entrants in the league, the Ahmedabad-based franchise announced their official team name as Gujarat Titans. The other new franchise will be called Lucknow Super Giants, as was announced late last month.

With the addition of these two, the IPL’s 15th edition is set to be a 10-team affair, with a mega auction preceding the tournament. The two-day event is scheduled on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru where a total of 590 players – 228 capped, 355 uncapped and seven from Associate nations – going under the hammer.

Ahead of the mega auction, the existing eight teams were allowed to retain up to a maximum of four players, with Sunrisers Hyderabad choosing their captain Kane Williamson alongside uncapped Jammu Kashmir talents – hard-hitting finisher Abdul Samad and tear-away quick Umran Malik, the acquisitions costing them INR 22 crores as they have an INR 68 crore purse to work around with at the mega auction.

Hyderabad enters the upcoming edition after scripting a historic low in the previous edition, held across two venues – India and UAE – in two legs due to Covid-19 disruption that threw the tournament in tatters in early May before it resumed in September in the gulf.

SRH finished the season at the bottom of the tally, losing 11 of their 14 league games to snap a five-year playoff qualification streak. The shockwaves of their shambolic show in the Indian leg of the tournament led to the sacking of David Warner, who was replaced by Williamson midway through the season, although to no avail.
