The much-anticipated auction for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is just a few hours away. The IPL auction, which will be a mini one, is scheduled to take place on February 18 in Chennai. Earlier this month, the BCCI had announced the list of the players who will go under the hammer in the auction.

Initially, a total of 1,114 cricketers had registered for the event. The final list was then pruned to 292 after the eight franchises submitted their shortlist of players. A total of 164 Indian players, 125 overseas players, and 3 players from Associate Nations will be up for grabs. Out of the 292 players, a maximum of only 61 players will be able to get the IPL contracts. As usual, the players are divided into different categories depending on their base price.

Rs 2 crore is the highest reserve price and a total of ten players including two Indians have registered themselves in this slab. 12 players are on the auction list with a base price of Rs 1.5 crore. On the other hand, 11 cricketers including two Indian players are on the list with a base price of INR 1 crore. The auction will be the final opportunity for all the teams to bolster their existing squads.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have the maximum vacancies in their squad as they need to sign a total of 11 players to complete their squad. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad have the least number of vacancies as they need only three signings to complete their squad. So before the auction gets underway this week, here are all the details you need to know about it.
