All the 10 IPL franchises will have their thinking caps on as the IPL 2022 mega auction will take place on 12th and 13th February 2022. Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants are the two franchises that have been added to the fray for the 15th edition of the tournament.

After the 8 existing franchises announced the players that they have retained, the 2 new IPL franchises, Ahmedabad and Lucknow picked their 3 draft picks ahead of the mega auction.

While the Ahmedabad franchise opted for Hardik Pandya as their skipper and also picked star Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan and opening batter Shubman Gill, the Lucknow franchise appointed KL Rahul as their skipper, while the other 2 draft picks were Australian cricketer Marcus Stoinis and leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi.

590 players will be auctioned on 12th and 13th February 2022. While 370 are Indian players, a total of 220 overseas players will go under the hammer this year in the IPL mega auction. There will also be 355 uncapped cricketers who will be up for grabs as well for all the 10 franchises. And, the IPL mega auction this year promises to be an absolutely cracking one and will have several surprises in store for all of us!
