Sam Billings is an excellent wicketkeeper-batter, hailing from England. He boasts of an extensive experience of playing different leagues around the world. He was acquired by CSK in 2018. In that year, he played a whirlwind innings of 56 from 23 balls against Dinesh Karthik’s Kolkata Knight Riders.  The right handed batter played 11 matches for the Super Kings and amassed 108 runs in total.

Despite a very impressive knock in a high-pressure situation, Billings was never granted a consistent opportunity to play for the franchise. He bats in a difficult position in the middle order, and he needed consistent opportunities to prove his mettle.

With MS, Jadeja, and Bravo batting at 6, 7, and 8, CSK has a very diverse pool of middle order players. As a result, Billings could never fit in their lineup because they mostly used an overseas opening pair of Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis.

Billings is an excellent middle-order batsman as well as an astute wicketkeeper. He possesses multi-dimensional qualities, making him an asset to any team he joins. Teams may turn to him in the future due to a dearth of middle-order batting options.
