The Rajasthan Royals (RR) side made a mockery of a gargantuan target of 190 set by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and cantered home with 7 wickets and as many as 15 balls to spare. The CSK side was battered into submission, as the Rajasthan batsmen went about decimating the ‘Men in Yellow’.

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) openers smashed the CSK bowlers to a pulp. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Evin Lewis put on a blazing 77-run opening stand off just 5.2 overs, as the CSK side ran out of answers. But then, both openers departed in quick succession.

Lewis hit Shardul Thakur straight to the fielder at deep square leg and departed for a 12-ball 27. Jaiswal followed his opening partner back to the pavilion 5 balls later, after nicking KM Asif to MS Dhoni behind the stumps. The 19-year-old scored a classy 50 at a strike rate of 238.09. Shivam Dube and Sanju Samson continued to pile the misery upon MS Dhoni and his boys.

Dube went totally berserk, and smashed 64* off just 42 deliveries, while Samson helped himself to a 24-ball 28. Glenn Phillips then stayed till the end and finished the job for the ‘Men in Pink’, scoring an unbeaten 14. On the bowling front, Shardul Thakur picked up 2 wickets, while KM Asif scalped a solitary wicket.

For CSK, Ruturaj Gaikwad lit up Abu Dhabi with shots of beauty. Gaikwad started his innings with a gorgeous straight drive, ended his innings with a murderous hoick over mid-wicket, and in between, flicked and pulled with grace. And, the CSK opener scored a splendid 101* off just 60 deliveries to help the CSK side post a gargantuan total of 189/4 on the board.

Gaikwad received excellent support from Ravindra Jadeja, who plundered his way to a 15-ball 32*. On the bowling front, Rahul Tewatia scalped 3 wickets, while Chetan Sakariya picked up a solitary willow wielder. With this victory, the Rajasthan side has moved to 6th place in the points table, while the CSK side is positioned at the top spot.

Delhi Capitals beat Mumbai Indians by 4 wickets

In the afternoon match, the Delhi Capitals outsmarted the Mumbai Indians (MI), beating the five-time IPL champions with 4 wickets to spare. Batting first, the Rohit Sharma-led side did not get any momentum with the willow, and could only muster a total of 129/8 on the board.

Suryakumar Yadav was the top scorer for the Mumbai outfit and scored 33 off 26 deliveries. Apart from Yadav, none of the other batsmen could even cross the 20-run mark. Avesh Khan and Axar Patel sliced through the Mumbai Indians’ (MI) batting line up and scalped 6 wickets between them.

In reply, Shreyas Iyer played a classic knock for the Rishabh Pant led side. On a wicket where the ball was not coming onto the bat, Iyer anchored the innings, scored a run-a-ball 33*, stayed till the end, and ensured that his side went past the target with 4 wickets and 5 balls to spare.

Ravichandran Ashwin gave good support to Iyer and scored a 21-ball 20*. With this victory, the Delhi Capitals are placed at the 2nd position in the points table, while the Mumbai Indians (MI) are placed at the 7th spot.
