The former England skipper Mike Brearley has showered praise on the Indian captain Virat Kohli for the way leads from the front on the field. Mike is one of the only three England captains to have won the Ashes series both home and away in its illustrious history. He was known for his sharp and scholarly mind who led England in 31 Test matches and is also regarded as one of the finest captains the game has ever had. His praise for Kohli is a special one as the 29-year-old is currently in the middle of a dream run and it will motivate him even more.

Virat Kohli recently shattered records and also created few new feats in the Test series against Sri Lanka by notching up back to back double hundreds in Nagpur and his home ground Delhi. He also smashed a century in Kolkata in the second innings which turned the game on its head and almost won the game for his team. In the limited overs format, the captain courageous is even more special as he has had a stellar year with the bat and also as the leader of the side.

Mike’s kind words for Kohli

Mike Brearley was speaking on the sidelines of ‘International Conference on Psychoanalysis in the 21st century’ at the BM Institute of Mental Health where he was one of the key speakers. He hailed the Indian skipper in high regards and admired his passion and aggression on the field. The 75-year-old also went on to say that Kohli has an immense level of concentration which has made him successful in his career so far.

“”I admire Kohli. He is very aggressive, passionate and intense. Kohli also has a great level of concentration and knows how to balance an independent mind,” he was quoted as saying by Times of India. He also expressed his opinion about the ongoing Ashes down under and felt that England is missing Ben Stokes who has been suspended by England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for his alleged involvement in the fight outside the nightclub in Bristol.

“Of course, the Aussies are playing better cricket than us, but without Stokes, England is really struggling. Stokes is like two players into one. He is one of the best bowler-batsmen and above all he is a brilliant fielder,” he concluded.
